Alchemy is concerned with the transformation from base to pure and therefore lead is as important to the alchemist as gold. In astrology, the alchemical metal of lead is associated with the god Saturn and therefore concepts of generation, dissolution, plenty, wealth, periodic renewal and liberation. This symbol mimics the scythe of Saturn, and bears a shape in parts derived from the old Hebrew letter Taw, and the ancient Greek Tau.
